Mabkhara Cube for Incense Burners

A mabkhara is an incense burner or censer that is used in the Arab world and Turkey. The word "mabkhara" comes from the Arabic word for incense, "bakhoor".
Purpose To infuse clothes with scent, to welcome guests in mosques and majlises, to create a calm and focused environment, and to enhance hospitality.
Construction
- Square cube with variant of colours
- Often have a square pedestal base with inward sloping sides
- The cup is lined with sheet metal
- Older burners were decorated with soft metal pegs and brass tacks
How to use
- Light a charcoal tab with a match or lighter on a fire-proof surface
- Place the charcoal tab in the mabkhara using tongs
- Sprinkle bakhoor on top of the charcoal tab
- The heat of the charcoal will evaporate the bakhoor's oils, releasing a rich, aromatic fragrance

In the Arab world, the mabkhara is associated with home, hospitality, inner peace, and well-being
